ChatGPT has introduced the advanced voice mode in Italy, a feature that allows users to converse with the AI in a more natural way, similar to a real conversation between people. This mode is now available for Plus, Enterprise, Team, and Edu subscribers, while it is not yet accessible for users of the free version. The feature allows choosing among nine different voices, each characterized by distinct tones and personalities, making the interaction more engaging.
Initially launched in May, this feature has sparked great interest and not a few controversies, as in the case of actress Scarlett Johansson, who accused OpenAI of using her voice without authorization. After a testing phase in the summer, the release was extended at the end of September to several European countries, including Italy. Activating the mode is simple: just tap the microphone icon in the ChatGPT app for Android or iOS, and when the sphere turns blue, it means the advanced mode is active.
This update represents a significant step to improve the user experience, offering more realistic and immediate voice interactions. However, daily usage limits remain to ensure proper use of the technology and protect user privacy.
